So, Dear One, what’s there to say? You’ve already used all the best words to describe Family, Responsibility, Willpower, Memories, Reverence and Love.
Actually, I believe I may be writing myself into a corner here, ’cause now I’ll have to force my failing neurons to come up with some clever B’Day wishes for another 20 years at least.
I know, I’ll just start, “borrowing” from all the wise and witty things you’ve said for the past 90! All Our Love, Marge & Chuck

Dear Leila,
I count myself as lucky to have known you across many years and in many different circumstances. Starting as a friend of my parents, I am grateful that we had the opportunity to form our own relationship, especially during our Shabbat Contemplative Shacharit services. The experiences and thoughts you shared brought everybody new insights and perspectives. Your intelligence, wit, and humor was ever present as was your boundless love and kindness. Thank you for all of that and for demonstrating how to age gracefully and to continue to bring love and light into an otherwise dark world.

Thank you for all you have thought about, observed, written up, and given me from the press. I am a much better teacher for having learned from you and am a much happier teacher when you are in the room.

Leila – Let’s remember –
HIGH SCHOOL – Possible double date to a drive-in movie – you and Larry Balshan and I of course with Arnold. My father said “NO WAY”. You, Larry and Arnold worked hard in our kitchen to convince him “his little girl would be safe”. I don’t remember the movie, the date, but I do remember the skilled, successful delivery of a plea. Do you remember?
COLLEGE – Miss Suttener’s class, your “reading” of Portia’s “Quality of Mercy” speech. I’ve never heard a more sensitive, moving delivery of same from any famous actress. My goose bumps come back now just thinking about it – and that was a hundred years ago. N’est-ce pas?
YOUR WEDDING – One of the loveliest brides ever and the groom was mighty handsome. Abram and I agree “That is one spectacular couple”.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUNG LADY! The number is unbelievable.
Thanks for the memories,

Happy Birthday to very special you… 90 years young!
Sheila introduced us to each other for over 20 years ago. How time flies! I will always treasure the time and, of course, the advice, you have shared with me.
Back in the day when you would come to Tampa, you would always find the time to visit. Remember the beautiful ceramic piece Mr. B and you gave to Steve and me? Well, it still has it’s important place in our home… So, maybe this will tempt you to come and visit! And, you are even welcome to come stay with us, too!
We used to talk a lot… I think for your birthday I will start that tradition once again!
Lots of love and wishes for good health, happiness and peace to you… a great-grandmother! Wow! Can you believe that?
