50 YEARS OLD?!?!?!
Jeez…hope you’re not having a mid-life crisis.
Please tell me you didn’t go out and buy a Trans Am….I mean like who’d drive one of those?!?!?
And speaking of driving, do you still put that stand up Elvis poster in the passenger seat so you can drive in the HOV lanes?
Skip any meetings lately to go see the Rolling Stones?
Or how about the mosh pit at the Ramones show?…now that was a fun night!
Hope you’re doing well.
Miss you.
If you’re ever in Seattle….

Chris!
50? How can it be? I remember you and Tim chasing leads for Kevin Dooley around the Silver Spring RA like it was yesterday. You both looked like you were still in high school. You probably still do. So how is possible that you are now older than me?
So I viewed all of the photos Michelle posted and found them to paint a picture an interesting picture of Christopher Umlauf – one of a closeted gay man for most of his life – not that there is anything wrong with that. It is clear to me that Michelle must have been the person to bring you back as a solid player for our team.
There is only one photo missing that would further paint the picture of Chris Umlauf – I don’t know who the custodian of that photo is these days but posting it would show another side of you – your back side. You and Jack dropping trou and mooning the camera at an FBI golf tournament is an image I have tried to forget for oh these many years. As I think about it I am reminded of a visit to the monkey exhibit at the zoo. All hair…..
Happy birthday Chris – next time you are back from God’s country give me a call and I’ll buy you a birthday lunch.

Dear Chris,
Happy Birthday friend! I am amazed that you are 50!! I hope you are wearing it well and enjoying life. I have such fond memories of walking home from high school together. Just a few weeks ago I was telling my husband and daughter about the time we snuck up to Mr. Schaeffer’s house and stuck oreo cookies all over the windshield of his car and some how the police found out about it and pulled us over when we were in the get away car. Guess the joke was on me. Ha ha. My parents and sisters are all living in Charlotte, NC. We have been here for about 15 years and love it. Ava is turning 11. I work at her school as the Admissions Director. Life is good. I hope your family is well. Drop me a line and fill me in on where you and Michelle are living and what you have been up to. Again. Happy Birthday. Cheers to you!

Hi Chris ..
Happy Birthday from TN!
I barely know you, except for house sitting for a weekend @ your Mt Airy home a few years ago, where I received a warm and pleasant welcome. I’ve heard so many things about you from Michelle (all good).
Having known Michelle her entire life, I can see she has chosen the PERFECT lifetime mate. Perhaps sometime in the future, I will have another opportunity to visit.
As for now, celebrate your #50 and thank Michelle for all the memories she has helped create with this virtual birthday. Wishing you many more decades of happy birthdays.
Love,

Hey there Chris:
Happy 5-0 to you! Hard to believe, but it doesn’t feel much different, trust me. That is, until I go to a Terps football or basketball game and the students call me “sir.” Hard to believe we were ever that young, and hard to believe we’ve known each other for going on 30 years now, including 8 or 9 of those years when you had the misfortune of living with me–during college and after.
So I was trying to think of a funny story suitable for this forum. I do remember when you got the Red Firebird. I think you covered that damn thing every night when we lived at Lakeside North. Anyway, I remember a group of us were heading somewhere on a road trip (I think to the beach) and Smoke and I were in your car, and you had all these crazy rules about no food or drinks in the car, and you wouldn’t run the AC. No worries…..we’ll put on some music. Smoke was so excited when he found a tape marked Eric C and, thinking it was Clapton, gave me the tape to put in, and it was ERIC CARMEN. WTF? That sums it up right there. I must have laughed for 10 minutes.
All joking aside, thank you for being such a great friend all these years. Although I don’t see you and Michelle as often as I would like, you’re both in my thoughts and forever in my heart.
Have a great day, and if anyone tries to tell you 50 is the new 40, please shoot them for me.
Here’s to the next 50…na zdrowie!

Wow, 50. I remember that it didn’t seem that long ago that we were having a gag party for someone turning 30 and commenting about how old that was. I guess that time changes your perspective, maybe 50 is the new 30? Anyway, wishing you a great 50th birthday. Maybe to turn back the clock you could regrow that mustache in the picture (there is always Just-For-Men in case it comes in gray). Enjoy your birthday and be happy that you live so far away that you don’t have to have a party and get gifts like walkers, metamusil and Centrum 50. Happy Birthday!

Chris,
Congratulations on the Big FIVE-O, the half-century mark, 1/20th of a millennium! Somehow we all survived the college years and are here 30 years later to wish you a Happy Birthday. Thank God I did not take that trip to California. When reflecting on the good old days, the first thought that came to mind was the party we had at the house on 51st street. We were wearing skin tight multi-colored Velcro hats and playing catch with a ball in the front yard. If only I could have gotten a picture. There was also a rabid squirrel and the band Stone Cold who never actually played. It’s funny the things we remember when we become old and senile :)
Here’s to another 50 years of peace and happiness……. and rabid squirrels. Happy Birthday! Your Friend, Nick
